Wines

Cave B Estate Winery is an award-winning boutique winery located in the Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) in the very center of Washington State Wine Country. We make an impressive variety of wines as we grow a broad range of grape varieties, made possible in large part by the microclimates which exist in our distinctive cliff-side location, 900 feet above the Columbia River.

We currently produce approximately 6,000 cases of Cave B wine a year under the Cave B Estate Winery and our Caveman Red & Cavewoman White labels combined. We also sell grapes & wine to other wineries as fruit, custom crushed juice or bulk wine.

The majority of our retail wine is sold in both our Quincy and Woodinville Tasting Rooms as well as through our popular Wine Club and online. Winery gift cards are another popular item that make a perfect gift for any occasion.

We ship our wine through UPS. We pride ourselves on making sure the weather will be at a safe temperature for your wine before sending it out, to help you receive it in prime condition. Please be aware you must be 21 or older to purchase wine and you must sign for all wine upon delivery per state law.

We ship via UPS to the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Washington State.

Our Wines
The winemaking philosophy of Winemaker Freddy Arredondo is one of minimal-intervention. Cave B Estate wines are made in a style that captures the essence of the vineyard and gives our wines a true sense of place. While we do add new oak barrels to our inventory every year the barrel selection and the amount of new oak, whether it be French, American, or Hungarian oak is something we pay very close attention to in the winemaking process. In other words, we use our new oak as a valuable and necessary ingredient but it is not the “headliner”. Freddy often says, “anybody can make a wine that tastes like toasted wood, that’s easy, the key is to make a wine with distinction and true varietal character”. The grapes for our Cave B wines are cultivated in our Estate Vineyards, we farm over 100 acres of grape vines, made up of 30 vineyards with each variety planted with careful consideration to soil type, row orientation, slope and soil depth. Some of our vineyard blocks are as small as ¼ acre to fit the criteria for the given variety. Through careful grape selection and winemaking techniques, our wines are made uniquely distinct, common only in their award-winning character.

Winemaker Alfredo "Freddy" Arredondo

Freddy Arredondo has been making wine at Cave B Estate Winery since 2006. Freddy’s expertise and excellent palate has helped Cave B Estate Winery garner an impressive number of awards over the years.

Prior to becoming a winemaker, Freddy was a professional chef. He started his culinary career at age 13, cooking in his family’s restaurant in CA. It was while working and attending culinary classes in Arizona that he was first introduced to wine. At that point in his life wine was a “mysterious, wonderful elixir” that he used to complement his dishes.

Once Freddy completed culinary school, he worked as a chef in restaurants in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and on a cruise ship in Hawaii. However, he was drawn to Italy and moved there when he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. It was in Italy where two life-changing things occurred: he met his future wife Carrie Bryan–daughter of Vince & Carol Bryan, owners of Cave B Estate Winery–and he became completely passionate about wine which eventually led him to Wall Walla,WA and winemaking school. Upon completion of the two year program he became the Assistant Winemaker at Cave B in 2006 and advanced to the Head Winemaker in 2008.

Freddy says, “I love what I do. I am passionate about the Washington Wine industry as a whole and I love being a Winemaker at Cave B. I have an amazing team, in the cellar, in the vineyards, in both tasting rooms. My wife Carrie does the marketing and events for the winery and my Sister-in law Janet is the CFO. My In-laws Vince & Carol Bryan work tirelessly helping to create new opportunities for the winery. We are a strong team and the wines reflect that.”
