There is no better way to get ready for a Gorge concert than to come over to Cave B Estate Winery before the Gorge gates open to listen to some FREE music on our Stage B Amphitheatre while wine tasting on our front lawn. Wine tasting is $20 pp. We also have a few canned beers for sale as well as juices, seltzers etc. Camp Pizza food truck will also be serving up fresh Pizzas in their food truck on our front lawn on the Brandi weekend, Chris Stapelton weekend, Labor DAVE weekend, John Mulaney show and Jack Johnson day on our front lawn as well as a few EDM shows. We have charcuterie type items for sale daily in the tasting room too. We do not take reservations on concert weekends, so just come on by. There is plenty of room for you and lots of good vibes.
Around here we love Brandi Carlile & her bandmates for their music & her incredible voice, but also for their inclusive spirit. Uplifting other musicians is part of who they are and we admire that greatly. For the Echoes Through the Canyon Weekend this year at the Gorge we will be showcasing local musicians who love Brandi & are inspired by her music, or who have also played with Brandi down in Mexico such as Ali Todd. Mark your calendars and come join us it is going to be a great weekend of FREE music at Cave B.

A little history: The start of the Gorge Amphitheatre
Back in the 80’s our family started the Gorge Amphitheatre. We had purchased barren land of sage brush, dirt & basalt to grow wine grapes in 1979. Where the Gorge is now was our family picnic spot and we had noted the natural acoustics there one evening when some of us ran down the hill and others stayed on top but could hear us clearly. For the grand opening of our first winery in the early 80’s we wanted guests to walk the 1/4 mile from our first winery building to see the beautiful views of the Columbia river and the sunset over the hills. What better way to enhance our wine then to pair it with music. So my Dad and brother built a wooden stage & terraced the hillside. We all laid sod and flowers and booked a band. Folks loved it and we kept it going for several years, expanding every year and hiring people to help us as needed. It was originally called the Champs de Brionne Summer Music Theatre and the name changed to the Gorge Amphitheatre along the way. After 7 years of building it up to 20,000 people capacity, first building the original stage and later bringing in a new larger, professional stage, starting overnight camping, and making it known to the world, we sold it to MCA. MCA eventually sold it to House of Blues, who eventually sold it to Clear Channel, which led into the Live Nation ownership. Today Live Nation is the owner and they are our neighbor.
It is an easy to walk from the Gorge parking lots or Gorge camping areas to wine taste with us. Simply head west to the Gorge Oasis White Tents. Go left (south) until you see our path, called Gate 2 onto the Cave B property. Once through the gate take a right and head to the large basalt, round building which is our tasting room. On Gorge concert days we do NOT take tasting reservations as we set everything up differently to accommodate more people.
Most often our wine tastings on concert days take place on our front lawn. Depending on the concert size either both our upstairs & downstairs tasting rooms are open for glass pours, bottle sales and snacks, and sometimes it is just the downstairs tasting room so concert goers can enjoy our huge lawns more easily. We often have live music on our Stage B Amphitheatre, located in front of our Quincy tasting room, that pair nicely with the bands at the Gorge. Many Gorge concert goers “pre-party” at Cave B with wine tasting, music and relaxing on our beautiful lawns. Music on our stage is always free to listen to, although we do ask you to purchase a bottle of Cave B wine if you are not wine tasting to support the winery and musicians. Wine tasting on concert days costs $20 per person, this covers the 4 tastings (2 white wines & 2 red wines) and helps us keep the concerts free. Please note on concert days we use our EVENT GLASSES. Event glasses cannot be taken home. Please leave your dirty glass on the marked dirty glass tables on the front lawn by both entries. Thank you for your help with this.
Wine & Music has always been an important part of our family history and we look so forward to sharing both of these with you.
