Cavewomen, Cavemen, Wine, “B” & You
Almost seven years ago we started one of our all-time favorite events and it is still going strong, our Caveman Roar n’ Pour 5K Trail Fun Run & Wine Tasting Event. We pushed the date back a week this year as last year for the first time ever we had snow on the ground for race day. It caused us to run on our private roads instead of our normal run through vineyards, sagebrush and along the cliff edge with gorgeous Columbia River views. It still worked very well, as the runners got to view more of our vineyards up close, and really who doesn’t love the look of a vineyard blanketed in snow, there is something so beautiful and calming about it. This year the date is set for Saturday, March 21st which should allow for a move back to our normal race course. The Tri-Cities Steel Band Association is bringing several of their bands to entertain you with live steel drum music after the race, and the Dilly Deli Cafe from Wenatchee is catering pre-ordered lunches.
I must say although we call it a run, and we have some very good runners attend, at least half of our 5K guests walk. We let our runners go first so they are not blocked by the walkers straight out of the gate, and they amaze me how fast they can run through some rugged terrain. They get the first sips of wine, the first shouts of congratulations, the first up for lunch and the longest time listening to our live music. They are impressive! Yet, I also have a deep love for all of our walkers too, because they are bringing their dogs, they are laughing with their neighbors and co-workers, they are catching up with their old friends, taking photos of the vines and views and soaking in all of the beauty. The long and the short of it is this 5K is for you however you would like it to “B”.
Many people ask us daily in the tasting room where our name, “Cave B Estate Winery” comes from. Many wrongly assume it is my parent’s, the Cave B founders initials, and although the letters do match that idea, it is not our intention behind the meaning. The “Cave” portion is a nod of respect for the wine caves, wineries and vineyards in Europe with their long wine history and where all of our vine root stock originally came from. The “B” is supposed to be seen as a verb. Our hope here on the property is that our award winning wines, beautiful views, friendly staff and interesting and varied events will inspire you to “B” a dreamer, to”B” an explorer as you let your own mind wander as you walk or run through the vineyards and contemplate what your own dreams are, whether they are childhood dreams that were never reached or new dreams. We want you to “B” exactly who you have always wanted to be. In the end we hope we can help you “B” inspired to let your own personal dreams take flight, just like my parents did with this beautiful place (more on our origin story later).
So come run or walk, dress as a Cavewoman or Caveman or don’t, get a group together or come alone and meet new friends. Just come, sign up and “B’ here as we are going to have a ton of fun! Register here.
